The Ghana international has largely found himself being surplus to requirements at the Emirates so far in this campaign, with Frimpong having as yet failed to start a match at all in any competition for the north London club.

And it is for that reason that both the player himself and Gunners head coach Arsene Wenger have now both agreed that a six-month loan switch for the second half of the campaign would suit both parties.

As for the defensive midfielder, it would give him valuable playing time between now and next summer’s Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil, where Frimpong will be hoping to feature for his country.

Meanwhile for Wenger, he will now get the chance to see just how his young charge gets on in midfield with les Verts ahead of possibly more game tome for the 22-year-old at the Emirates next season.

And so it is a win-win situation for both parties, with Frimpong expected to tie up his loan switch by the end of the week.
