Bayern Munich have insisted that they have no plans on letting striker Mario Mandzukic leave the club now or in the summer and are even willing to discuss a new deal with the player, Sky Sports reports.

Speculation surrounding the player’s future had been raised this month after Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski confirmed that he will be joining the defending Bundesliga champions at the end of the season.

Mandzukic was already being linked with a move to Premier League side Arsenal before Lewandowski made his announcement, and the rumours have only sought to intensify over the past fortnight.

However, Bayern have always said that there is more than enough room in the squad for more than one front man, and have reiterated that stance once again.

And club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reassured the Croatian international that he still has a major part to play in the side and has hinted that he would even be willing to extend his contract past it’s 2016 expiration date.

He told BILD: “We are absolutely content with Mario Mandzukic. He has outperformed our expectation and we will keep him at Bayern Munich.

“We are willing to sign a new contract with him and I don’t think he would be against those talks.”
