Both West Ham United and Stoke City are preparing to go head to head in the battle to sign experienced Al Ain front man Asamoah Gyan on loan in the January transfer window, according to reports on talkSPORT.co.uk.

The in-form Ghana international represented Sunderland for two years between 2010 and 2012 and so has Premier League experience, while the player himself is said to be keen on returning to the English top flight in order to get ready for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
