Premier League strugglers West Ham United are hoping to take advantage of the current uncertainty surrounding Southampton by making a £7m bid for England international front man Rickie Lambert, according to exclusive reports in the Daily Mail.

The east London club have been heavily linked with the in-form Lambert over the course of the past few weeks as head coach Sam Allardyce looks to add more firepower to his injury-hit forward line.
However, the Hammers still need to be able to agree a financial package with the 31-year-old before a deal to bring Lambert to Upton Park in the January transfer window can be concluded.
