The 21-year-old winger, who has made just two sub appearances for United in the league this term, had a ‘furious shouting match’ with United officials after being told Moyes had vetoed a loan departure.

Newcastle United, Cardiff City and West Brom were all thought to be interested in signing the former Crystal Palace speedster until the end of the season.

Moyes had previously suggested a loan deal would suit Zaha and United but Ashley Young’s shoulder problem and Nani’s hamstring injury have persuaded the Scot otherwise.

Zaha, who was signed by Moyes’ predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson in a £15m deal last January, has found himself behind Young, Nani, Shinji Kagawa, Antonio Valencia and Adnan Januzaj in the pecking order at Old Trafford.
