Newcastle United remain keen on signing Borussia Monchengladbach front man Luuk de Jong on an initial six-month loan move in the January transfer window ahead of a possible permanent deal for the player at the end of the season, according to reports in the Newcastle Chronicle.

The north-east outfit have been heavily linked with a move for the Netherlands international of late, however, the club are still to reach an agreement with the player’s employers about the cost of a six-month loan deal for de Jong.
Monchengladbach would prefer that any interested parties in the 23-year-old sign the striker on a permanent contract, however, the Magpies do not want to take that risk and so negotiations are still ongoing.
