Premier League strugglers West Ham United are interested in signing Genoa front man Alberto Gilardino on a six-month loan deal in the January transfer window, according yo reports on talkSPORT.co.uk.

The east London club are desperate to add more firepower to their forward line at Upon Park for the second half of this season following the long-term heel injury picked up by club-record signing Andy Carroll at the back end of the previous campaign.

And Hammers head coach Sam Allardyce feels that the experienced Italy international could be just the right player to fire the goals needed to keep the club in the Premier League this season.
