The coveted England Under-21 international has been the subject of much interest from London rivals Fulham in recent days, with some reports even suggesting that the west Londoners had offered £5m for Morrison.

However, it is understood that the Hammers will not allow the 20-year-old to depart Upton Park this month for anything less than £10m, with assistant manager Neil McDonald saying: “I would imagine everybody has a price.

“He’s a talented player and we need talented players.

“He’s an important member of the squad and we want to keep as many important members of the squad here as possible to try and help us move up the league.

“It’s more hearsay that he is leaving. We have to act that he is here and going to stay here. All I can say is we want him here.”
