The 21 year old custodian moved to Stamford Bridge in 2011 but is yet to play a senior fixture for the West London side but has impressed greatly during his three year spell at the Vicente Calderon.

With Jose Mourinho sticking with Czech Repubic star Petr Cech it seems plausible that the Blues would consider offers for Courtois but may demand a higher sum than the £10m quoted by this source.

Kevin de Bruyne found himself in a similar situation, failing to regular break into the Chelsea first team, before the Premier League side agreed a deal to sell the Belgian to Wolfsburg so perhaps Courtois will follow suit.

Courtois is now the Belgian national team’s first choice goalkeeper and has made 126 appearances for Atletico Madrid, helping Diego Simeone’s side to a Europa League triumph in his first season at the club, a Copa del Rey success in his second spell and has helped the over-achieving side to mount a genuine La Liga title challenge this season.
