The 23 year old is having a fine season with Montpellier and is said to be Alan Pardew’s number one January transfer window target and now the youngster’s father, who also acts as his agent, claims a deal is imminent stating;

‘Yes we are negotiating Remy’s transfer,’ Hector Cabella told the French press.

‘He will join Newcastle this winter.’

He is said to be moving for a fee of around £12m and will offer Pardew a fresh creative goal-scoring option and the high profile move to St James’ Park may aid his push for a first senior national team cap.

Cabella is into his fourth season in the Montpellier first team and has racked up six goals and three assists in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this term and will become the latest in a long line of French players at Newcastle United where he would join the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Yoan Gouffran, Hatem Ben Arfa, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Mathieu Debuchy, Moussa Sissoko and Loic Remy at the Premier League club.
