The highly rated Egypt international has been attracting the attentions of a whole host of big-name clubs from across the Continent so far this season after turning in a string of eye-catching displays for the Swiss champions, particularly in their Uefa Champions League campaign.
In particular, the 21-year-old impressed greatly in Basel’s two group-phase wins over Uefa Europa League holders Chelsea, with Salah finding the back of the net in both those two victories.
And as a result, the likes of both the west London club themselves and Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with making a move of their own for the skilful winger during this month’s transfer window.
However, it is now understood that it is the Merseyside giants who the player is most keen to sign for in January, although the Reds and Basel still remain some distance apart in their respective valuations of the Egyptian, with the Swiss said to be demanding a fee somewhere in the region of £16m for Salah.
