The highly rated Portugal Under-21 international has only been with the Premier League giants since last summer, when Ilori moved to Anfield from Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon on a five-year deal for a transfer fee of £7m.

However, despite Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers describing the 20-year-old as being the future of the club’s back four going forward, Ilori has struggled to establish himself in the Liverpool first-team squad since moving to Merseyside.

In fact, Ilori has only featured on the substitutes’ bench on a handful of occasions so far this season, while the central defender has failed to play a single minute of action yet for his new team.

And with Rodgers currently blessed with a number of other far more experienced options at the back, including the likes of Mamadou Sakho, Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger, the Northern Irishman decided that the best course of action for both parties would be for Ilori to spend the rest of this campaign with Granada.
