The Premier League leaders have been keeping close tabs on the highly rated young Germany international for some time now, with a view to signing Draxler in the current January transfer window.

However, a recent injury picked up by the 20-year-old has since put an end to Gunners head coach Arsene Wenger’s hopes of luring Draxler to the north London club this month, with the player expected to now be out of action until at least March at the earliest.

And that means that Arsenal are expected to now return for the German at the end of this season, although now it is understood that the north Londoners will be joined in the race for Draxler’s signature by their enemies from Old Trafford this summer as Red Devils manager David Moyes said to be desperate to add more talented players to his under-performing midfield.

As a result, both Premier League giants are now set to go head to head in the battle to land Draxler next season, with an offer of £37m thought to be enough to sign the star.
