Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy wants to re-sign Fulham forward Dimitar Berbatov in a cut-price deal worth £1.5m in the January transfer window, however, head coach Tim Sherwood is understood to be against the idea, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The mercurial Bulgaria international starred for the north London club for two years between 2006 and 2008 after arriving at White Hart Lane from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer fee of just £10.9m in May 2006.
However, after 46 goals in total only 102 appearances for Spurs in all competitions, including 27 strikes in his 70 Premier League outings for the club, Berbatov then moved to Premier League giants Manchester United in September 2008 for a club-record fee of £30.75m.
And now the Tottenham supremo wants to bring the Bulgarian back to the Lane before the winter transfer window slams shut for business for the season once again at the end of the month in order to aid the club’s push for a top-four finish, but his manager disagrees.
“Everyone knows Berba. He is proven in this division,” said Sherwood.
“He is a Fulham player and I am not sure what they are thinking about that. But we have options to take us through to the end of the season.”
