The impending big-money arrival of Chelsea wide man Juan Mata at Manchester United has now convinced unsettled front man Wayne Rooney to perform a dramatic U-turn and instead stay with the Premier League champions next season after all, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The brilliant little Spain international is set to complete his club-record £40m move from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford on Thursday after undergoing a medical at United’s Carrington training base and discussing personal terms the day before on his four-year £150,000 deal with the Premier League champions.
And it is this latest development that has now seemingly had the effect of persuading Rooney to now remain at the Theatre of Dreams and sign a new deal with the north-west giants himself.
Speculation has been rife of late suggesting that the England international would refuse to put pen to paper on a contract extension with the club, with Rooney’s current deal set to run out on June 30 2015, and instead walk away from the Theatre of Dreams on a Bosman-style free transfer in 18 months’ time.
But the attacker’s representatives will now sit down with United after the deal to sign Mata from the Blues has been completed.
