The 21 year old England man has barely featured under David Moyes and will be keen to secure any move that gives him hope of playing regular first team football.
Man United spent £15m to sign Zaha last January but then loaned the wide-man back to Crystal Palace for the remainder of last season. Thus far this season the youngster has managed just two sub appearances in Premier League action, this even though Moyes has seen the likes of Luis Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ashley Young fail to impress.
Newly appointed Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly has connections at Man United and will hope that the temporary addition of Zaha will help his cause.
Cardiff City currently sit bottom of the Premier League table.
Solskjaer, who replaced Malky Mackay as Bluebirds boss, has already signed fellow Norwegians Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Moller Daehli.
