Premier League champions Manchester United may now move for in-demand Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin after completing their club-record purchase of Chelsea wide man Juan Mata, according to reports in the Independent.

The Spain international should complete his £37m move from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford on Thursday after undergoing a medial at the Red Devils’ Carrington training complex and then discussing personal terms over his proposed four-year £150,000-per-week deal at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, the 25-year-old’s arrival in the north west is only the start of United head coach David Moyes’s spending in the January transfer window as the Scot tries to ensure that he gets the right players in to help the club finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, and with it gain entry into next season’s Uefa Champions League.

And as such, the next man through United’s doors could be Inter’s highly rated Colombia international who just a few weeks ago appeared to be destined to join Jose Mourinho in west London, before that proposed move fell through at the very last minute.

But with the Serie A giants said to be in urgent need of money at present, Guarin’s agent has been instructed by Inter to find a club for his client this month, with Moyes said to be keen on the 27-year-old.
