Man United have completed a deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata according to the club’s official website.

The BBC reports that David Moyes will bring in the 25 year old for a club record fee of £37m though the move is still subject to a medical and the player agreeing personal terms with the Premier League title holders.

There has been reports that Chelsea were waiting for confirmation of their move for FC Basel’s Mohamed Salah before agreeing a deal with Man United but seemingly the West London side have now reached a deal to sell their two time Player of the Year award winner.

Mata had been hugely impressive in his first two seasons at Chelsea but under Jose Mourinho he has been a peripheral figure and hasn’t impressed when called upon.

Mourinho has opted to use Eden Hazard and Oscar ahead of Mata as his creative midfielders with Willian also recently forcing himself in front of the former Valencia man in the club’s pecking order.

Juan Mata has started just half of Chelsea’s 22 Premier League fixtures and will hope a move to Man United will offer him more game time ahead of the 2014 World Cup finals.

Man United boss David Moyes could well do with more invention in the final third with the likes of Ashley Young, Nani and Shinji Kagawa failing to make an impact this season.
