Though the 20 year old is said to have a £38m transfer clause that only comes into effect in the summer and Arsenal hope to persuade the Bundesliga side to sell their prized asset for an initial fee of €30m (£24.9m) fee that would then see further bonus payments made for appearances, success and international caps garnered by Draxler.

It’s a deal that this source believes is close to coming to fruition as Arsene Wenger seeks to land the talented midfielder before the end of the January transfer window.

Draxler is apparently very keen to move to the North London club and a Wenger capture would very much adhere to his youthful transfer policy whilst also displaying a real statement of intent.

Julian Draxler has already racked up 133 appearances for Schalke and is currently out with an ankle injury which is likely to keep the player out for at least another month, which could further tempt the Gelsenkirchen side to cash in on the player now.

A move to the Emirates Stadium would see Draxler team-up with national team colleagues Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski.
