Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for the Croatian international though many would have imagined such a move would only become a possibility next summer, once his probable replacement Robert Lewandowski arrived from Borussia Dortmund, but now it appears the Allianz Arena side could be willing to sanction a sale in the January transfer window.

The 27 year old has been a prolific finisher throughout his 18 months at the Bavarian giants but is seemingly not a player Pep Guardiola values, a point echoed by honorary president Franz Beckenbauer who has stated;

‘Mandzukic could pack his bags,’

‘I don’t think Mandzukic suits Pep Guardiola’s style.’

‘Also – even without him, Guardiola could still count on Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze in attack.’

Mandzukic netted 21 goals in his debut season at Bayern Munich, helping the club to a treble of Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League titles, and thus far this term has scored an impressive 13 goals from 20 starts in all competitions.

Arsene Wenger is keen to strengthen his attack, especially with Theo Walcott out for the rest of the campaign, and may look to bring Mandzukic on an initial loan deal though such a move may not interest in Guardiola, who could perhaps prefer an out and out sale if anything this month.
