The north London club are currently assessing just which first-team players they want to keep at White Hart Lane in the second half of this campaign and just which flops can be allowed to quit the capital this month.

And as such, recently appointed head coach Tim Sherwood held urgent face-to-face talks with the club’s technical director Franco Baldini at the training ground on Friday to finalise the list of comings and goings in January, with the name of unsettled France international Capoue understood to one which Sherwood is happy to see leave Spurs in order to gain valuable playing time in the second half of the campaign.

Capoue only arrived at Tottenham from Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse in August on a four-year deal for a transfer fee of £9.3m, however, the 25-year-old has since managed to appear in only 13 matches in total in all competitions for his new team, kust eight of which have come in the Premier League, during which time the holding midfielder has not managed to score a single goal.
