The north London club have been keeping close tabs on the highly rated Germany international for some time, with the Gunners having even been offered Draxler by his club on the final day of the previous transfer window.
However, Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger was not willing to splash out a whopping £37m – the cost of the player’s buyout clause in his contract with Schalke – on the 20-year-old last summer, but since then the situation has changed what with rivals Chelsea pulling out of the running for the midfielder after themselves recently completing a deal for FC Basel wide man Mohamed Salah.
All of which now means that Arsenal are understood to be very confident of doing a deal for the German before the January transfer window closes for business at midnight on Friday by offering the Bundesliga a one and only bid for their star man, who has a contract with the Bundesliga outfit that runs until June 2018.
