The coveted France international is regarded as being one of the most impressive and accomplished player in his position in world football at the moment, so much so that a whole host of big-name clubs throughout the Continent have been after the 19-year-old’s signature in the January transfer window.

However, despite reports earlier on Thursday suggesting that the west London club had reached an impasses with the Ligue 1 outfit regarding the transfer of the central defender, with les Verts supposedly demanding a fee of 18m euros for the player, an agreement has now been reached between the two parties.

And that agreement will see Zouma move to Stamford Bridge on a bumper five-year deal, meaning that Premier League champions Manchester United have missed out on the Frenchman’s signature.

Zouma, who was recently banned for ten games in France after breaking an opponent’s leg, has a contract with St Etienne that runs until June 2017, while the defender has managed to net four times in his 51 league outings for the club.
