Holtby has been continuously linked with a move away from White Heart Lane this winter after finding playing time difficult to come by under both Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood.

However, despite some heavy interest from his former club in the Bundesliga, Schalke, he appears to have joined up with the Cottagers instead.

Daily Mail journalist Sam Cunningham was in attendance at a press conference with Saints boss Pochettino on Thursday afternoon and tweeted that the Argentinian had inadvertently announced the deal between the two London clubs.

Pochettino had reportedly been keen to do a deal for the 23-year-old himself, but said: “They’ve (Fulham) made a lot of changes a lot of signings. They’ve just signed Holtby from Tottenham.”

Details of the deal have yet to be announced by either Spurs or Fulham, but it is believed that he has joined the west London outfit on loan for the remainder of the season with his agent saying that a permanent deal would be difficult to complete a permanent deal during the January window.
