Real Madrid are lining up a bid for Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois according to the Daily Star.

The Blues custodian is into his third season in the Spanish capital, performing heroically with Atletico Madrid, and now Bernabeu boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to bring the 21 year old in to act as a long term replacement for veterans Diego Lopez and Iker Casillas.

Chelsea want £20m for the Belgian international, a fee that Ancelotti may well be willing to pay and perhaps given the links between the Italian and his former club a deal could be struck.

Jose Mourinho is happy to stick with Czech Republic international Petr Cech and as such can afford to cash in on Courtois, who is yet to play a single senior game for the Stamford Bridge side.

Mourinho has happily sold Kevin de Bruyne, Juan Mata and Michael Essien this month, looking to boost his transfer funds with sales of players he clearly doesn’t feel are crucial.

Clearly as Courtois is in the middle of a loan deal at the Vicente Calderon any permanent move to Real Madrid would have to wait until the summer.
