The experienced Sweden international was Gunners head coach Arsene Wenger’s only new arrival on transfer deadline day, with  Kallstrom arriving from the Russian giants on a six-month loan deal to cover for a number of injured players at the Emirates.

Arsenal currently have a lengthy injury list, including the likes of key midfielders Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott, the latter who is out for the rest of the season with  knee ligament injury.

However, now the club have discovered that Kallstrom is also crocked, with the 31-year-old carrying a back injury with him to north London from when he was warm weather training with Spartak in the United Arab Emirtes recently.

And after undergoing scans on the problem, the Swede may now be out of action for several matches, starting with Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace at the Emirates, with Arsenal said to now be seriously considering sending their new recruit back to the Russian capital.
