The 24-year-old had been a target for several top European sides over the past couple of months, but has remained with his current side, Corinthians, for the time being.
Juventus eventually decided to make a move for unsettled Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo, bringing him in on loan until the end of the season, but it has now been made clear that the Brazilian international was a very viable option for the club.
Pato had originally made a name for himself with Serie A rivals AC Milan and at one point looked as though he was set to become one of the world’s greatest strikers before being moved on back home after a worrying dip in form.
But despite that, he is still highly thought of in most circles in Europe, and could return at some point in the summer, with Spurs and Arsenal set to keep an eye on his progress form now until the end of the campaign.
