30 year old Dutch forward Van Persie is said to have been upset at seeing Sir Alex Ferguson retire at the end of last season and is now considering his future at Man United, with the veteran manager’s presence at the Premier League side one of the main reasons he was willing to make the controversial switch from the Emirates Stadium in the first place.

Van Persie is also said to be unsettled in his new surroundings and misses London and is none too impressed with Man United’s new training regime and should Man United manage to tie Wayne Rooney down to a new long term contract they could be willing to sell the experienced marksman.

Arsene Wenger is said to be ready to welcome Van Persie back, despite his age, and would be open to meeting the £15m valuation stated by this source.

A number of Man United’s established side could be on their way with Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Nani, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia all linked with possible exits.

Van Persie has proven a prolific acquisition since his £24m move to Man United, scoring 42 goals in 66 appearances.

Arsenal could well do with reinforcements up front and the possibility of bringing Van Persie back to support the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski would be a mouthwatering one though one wonders how the club’s fans would react to the return of their former favourite.
