Arsenal are to enter the race to sign Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos, who has been axed by his Allianz Arena side after lengthy contract talks hit the buffers in recent weeks.

The Daily Mail claim that the 24 year old German has asked for a massive pay-hike from £60k to £150k, a rise that the Bundesliga giants are unwilling to agree to.

This has led to interest a number of Premier League sides including Man United, Man City and Chelsea all taking a keen interest in Kroos and Arsene Wenger will now target the midfielder.

Interest from Arsenal may well be rooted in the prospect that his first choice midfield target, Schalke’s Julian Draxler, has been lined up as a replacement for Kroos, which has in turn seen Wenger switch attention to the Bayern Munich playmaker.

Kroos is now into his sixth season in the Bayern Munich first team set-up and wants parity with the likes of Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Franck Ribery.

Though Arsene Wenger has a number of forward thinking midfield options he may well feel that Kroos offers more than those currently in his armoury.
