Old Trafford boss David Moyes had attempted to lure the 26 year old to the Premier League last month and by all accounts the Uruguayan is open to a switch to the English top tier, but talks with Parc des Princes manager, and former Man United defender, Laurent Blanc failed to lead to a deal.

Former Napoli man Cavani has been a big hit since moving to Ligue 1 giants PSG, netting 20 goals in all competitions, but is said to be unsettled in the French capital and not impressed with the standard of football in the French league.

PSG spent over £50m to bring in Cavani last summer and will demand a fee well in excess of that if they are to consider selling the powerful forward.

Prior to his move to PSG Cavani scored an impressive 78 goals in 104 appearances for Napoli and could be seen as a further strengthening addition, to go with January’s capture of Juan Mata, to boost options in the final third.
