Veteran leaves Magpies after disastrous spell.

Joe Kinnear has brought an end to his role as Director of Football at Newcastle United according to the Daily Mail.

The 67 year old returned to the club last June, having managed the club for six months during the 2008/09 season, but managed to sign two senior players during his time in the post, with Loic Remy and Luuk de Jong both arriving on loan deals.

Newcastle United sold star midfielder Yohan Cabaye in a £20m deal late on in the January transfer window and seemingly Kinnear failed to land first choice replacement Clement Grenier and has seemingly paid for this with his job.

The eccentric veteran has often been a figure of fun, famed for his nonsensical interviews and his short fuse, one wonders if the Magpies will bother appointing a successor or instead entrust the role of bringing in new players to boss Alan Pardew instead.
