The Frenchman wants to sign a new right back, central midfielder and a front man too, and the north London club’s network of global scouts are said to already be busy scouring the market on the Continent to find suitable candidates for each position.

Up front, the Gunners boss is said to be eyeing up a move for either Atletico de Madrid’s Diego Costa, 25, Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko, 27, FC Porto’s Jackson Martinez, or Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Wenger is certain to return to Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 to sign their coveted Germany international Julian Draxler this summer after just missing out on landing the central midfielder in the January transfer window.

Wenger did then ponder moving for Newcastle United playmaker Yohan Cabaye instead after his failure to lure Draxler to the Emirates last month, only for the France international to move to Paris Saint-Germain instead for £19m.

And finally, the Arsenal manager has identified Borussia Dortmund right-back Lukasz Piszczek as being the man to replace the departing Bacary Sagna next season.
