Some own goals are painfully unlucky, some are actually quite funny, and then other are just so astounding that they are destined to be remembered forever.
This is one of those.
During Wednesday’s Copa Del Rey clash between Barcelona and Real Sociedad, with the Catalans already a goal up, they saw their victory sealed thanks to some rather bizarre circumstances.
With Alexis Sanchez racing through on goal his shot ricocheted off the post, falling to Elustondo in his own box, but despite having plenty of time to mop up the danger, the defender panicked and whacked the ball straight at goalie Zubikarai, who could do nothing as the ball finally ping-ponged into the net.
