The experienced Serbia international’s current deal at Old Trafford now only runs until June 30 2014, meaning that the centre back is now allowed to start negotiating with foreign-based clubs about next season.

However, it is understood that the 32-year-old would like to finish his career at the Theatre of Dreams, where he has been playing since January 2007, when Vidic first arrived in the north west from Spartak Moscow for a fee of just £7m.

But as yet, there has been no contract offer on the table from the Red Devils, meaning as things currently stand, Vidic will be leaving the Premier League giants at the end of this season, which is quite some change from earlier on in the campaign when new United head coach David Moyes described the central defender as being the best player that he had ever worked with.

Meanwhile, reports in the Italian and English press of late have been linking the Serb with a Bosman free transfer to Serie A giants Inter Milan this summer.
