Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is set to sign a new deal worth a whopping £90,000 per week to keep him at the club until 2018, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Spaniard still has two years left to run on his current deal, but boss David Moyes is keen to get him tied down to an extended contract that will go beyond that.

This comes after the news that La Liga giants Barcelona have been monitoring the player with the view to making a £25m move for him during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old has become United’s undisputed first-choice ‘keeper despite a shaky start to his Premier League career after joining from Atletico Madrid for £17.5m in 2011, and the club are keen to reward his value with a new deal.

De Gea has so far turned out 112 times for United in all competitions, and has been one of the club’s more consistent performers this term.

He has been identified as one player to keep a hold of as David Moyes looks to ring wholesale changes over the summer as skipper Nemanja Vidic is set to depart, and question marks hang over the heads of Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra.
