It’s not been a good weekend for Arsenal, first they suffer a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool, then Arsene Wenger falls on his back-side and now it transpires that German giant Per Mertesacker has been involved in an altercation with young striker Yaya Sanogo.

A report in the Daily Mirror doesn’t elaborate on how Mertesacker sustained a black eye, they merely state it came following a training ground ‘bust-up’.
However the same source then states it was a training ground ‘clash’, a term that covers a multitude of sins, so indeed the Gunners centre-back may well have just collided with the young French forward, as is of course commonplace.
However things get more suspicious when you consider that Mertesacker has initially stated that the incident involved keeper Wojciech Szczesny and not Sanogo…
