Barcelona have set their sights on Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris as the La Liga side look to bring in a long term replacement for exit bound custodian Victor Valdes according to the Sunday Mirror.

The 27 year old French international captain may well be tempted by a move to the Nou Camp and even though the former Lyon man is tied down to a long term White Hart Lane contract he is less likely to stick around at the North London club if Tim Sherwood can not guide Tottenham to a top four finish.

Valdes is set to leave Barcelona in the summer when his current contract comes to a close and boss Gerardo Martino does not see current back-up Jose Manuel Pinto as a viable option.

PSG and Atletico Madrid are also keen on Lloris, who is unwilling to accept a third successive season without Champions League football, and the Spurs man has been in fine form since moving to the Premier League.

Lloris has publicly spoken of the potential uncertainty that would follow if Tottenham failed to secure a Champions League berth, stating;

“The objective is to reach the Champions League. After that, it’s to close the gap on the biggest teams in the league.

“Without Champions League football? I’ve not thought about it. I must weigh things up at the end of the season.”
