Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers, who knows Cole well from his time at Stamford Bridge, is ready to offer the 33 year old a deal when his Blues contract comes to an end this summer.

Cole may well be destined to leave Stamford Bridge as a new deal may not be offered by Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese has frozen out of first team action in recent months with Cesar Azpilicueta being installed as Chelsea’s first choice left-back.

A move to Liverpool may well tempt Cole though he will be looking for a decent length of contract and one would imagine a Champions League berth could be crucial for any move to sign the England international.

There is also interest from the MLS in Cole but Cole is apparently keen to remain in Europe, knowing that a move Stateside would affect his place in Roy Hodgson’s national team set-up.

Ashley Cole has started 12 of Chelsea’s 24 Premier League fixtures this season.

Rodgers has been without his first choice left-back Jose Enrique since early November and may feel that Cole would be a very reliable option to turn to next term.
