Indeed the Bernabeu side are said to be using a dossier on the Belgian keeper put together by former boss Jose Mourinho, who is of course now in charge of Chelsea.

21 year old Courtois is now into his third season long loan move at Atletico Madrid and is a player that Chelsea may be willing to cash-in on this summer with Mourinho showing with his January sales of Juan Mata and Kevin de Bruyne that he is open to selling big name players to help fund moves for new additions.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has continued Mourinho’s policy of snubbing club legend Iker Casillas, using Diego Lopez as his first choice keeper, and the Italian will now look to bring in Courtois, who is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football.

Over the course of his time at the Vicente Calderon Courtois has won both the Europa League and a Copa Del Rey and has helped Diego Simeone’s side to mount a genuine La Liga title challenge.

Courtois is unlikely to be keen on returning to Chelsea given that Petr Cech is clearly Mourinho’s number one choice between the sticks and a move to Real Madrid, or to remain at Atletico, will probably both appeal to the former Racing Genk man.
