The Croatia international, 17, is currently one of the most talked about youngsters plying their trade on the Continent, with the likes of Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United having also both been linked with the player.
However, according to Zagreb vice-president Zdravko Mamic, Barca attempted to lure Halilovic to Camp Nou during the recent January transfer window, although in the end the offer was not deemed sufficient enough to be able to persuade either the club or the player to make the move to Catalunya,
“We have received an offer from Barcelona for Halilovic, but it was not accepted because we, the player and his family were not entirely satisfied with the terms,” Mamic told Sportski.
“The story does not stop there. Barcelona still want the transfer to happen so we will see how everything will continue.
“We would like to see Halilovic at our club for at least three years.”
Halilovic only has a contract with Zagreb that runs until June 30 2014 and so the wonderkid will be available on a free transfer this summer.
