Manchester United boss David Moyes is believed to be ready to return to Italy this time to snare a player rather than lose one as he lines up Roma defender Medhi Benatia as a replacement for the departing Nemanja Vidic, according to Tuttosport.

With the Serbian veteran confirming his exit at the end of the season the club are in desperate need to sign someone just as talented, or with the potential to be just as good as Moyes looks to rebuild his squad after a disappointing maiden campaign.
And his need could be made even greater if he opts against offering a new deal to fellow veteran centre-back Rio Ferdinand, whose contract is also up at the end of the current season.
And that has led Moyes to take a closer look at star Roma defender Mehdi Benatia, who has been catching the eye with a series of strong performances.
His form has helped keep the club near the top of the table and United will offer a fee of around €14m to secure his signature and will temp him with a significant pay rise.
