The Premier League giants and the high flying Liga outfit held face-to-face discussions in London last week where it is understood that Atleti put forward two proposals to the west London club.

The first involved Atletico offering £16m plus their in-demand Spain international midfielder Koke in exchange for the Blues shot stopper, who is currently spending a season-long loan at the Vincente Calderon.

Meanwhile, the Spaniards were also willing to pay £8m as well as including their prolific Brazil-born striker Costa as part of any deal for the west London club’s 21-year-old keeper.

However with  Courtois, who has been at Stamford Bridge for the past three years now, although the Belgium international is yet to actually play a single match for his employers as yet, contracted to the Uefa Europa League holders until June 2016, Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho knows that he will have to make a definitive decision about the player’s future this summer.
