The experienced England international’s current one-year rolling contract comes to an end on June 30 2014 and so far, the 33-year-old has yet to be offered a new 12-month deal by the west London club.
And with Cole having been handed his contract extension by the Blues in January of last year, time appears to be slowly running out for the Englishman to be given the chance to prolong his career in west London into next season.
However, the player himself is understood to be fairly relaxed about the whole situation, with Cole believed to already have a number of interesting and lucrative offers on the table from a variety of different clubs throughout the world, including the likes of Premier League rivals Liverpool and Major League Soccer franchise the New York Red Bulls.
But the attacking full back is said to want to wait until the end of the campaign before making any definitive decision regarding where his long-term future may lie after the summer.
