Bayern Munich and Arsenal have been linked with a swap move that is sure to surprise many with Sports Direct News claiming that playmaker Mesut Ozil could move to the Allianz Arena in the summer.

The Bavarian side are willing to offer the former Real Madrid man a return to the Bundesliga in a move that would see contract rebel Toni Kroos move in the opposite direction.

The 25 year old Arsenal man has come in for some criticism in recent weeks and was certainly below par in recent displays against Liverpool and Man United though a move away from the Emirates Stadium seems hugely unlikely.

Arsenal spent a club record £42.4m to sign Ozil and despite his inconsistent displays Ozil has netted five goals in all competitions and only Man United’s Wayne Rooney and Liverpool veteran Steven Gerrard have provided more Premier League assists so it would unfair to term the signing as a flop.

The idea that Arsene Wenger would sacrifice Ozil for midfielder Toni Kroos is an odd one to say the least, not only because Arsenal have a wealth of central midfield talents at present but also as the summer signing is clearly a key part of the North London club’s long term plans.

Kroos has steadfastly refused to sign a new Bayern Munich deal and has demanded a massive pay-hike that the German giants are unwilling to fork out, this has led the 24 year old to be left on the bench for the club’s last two domestic league fixtures.
