Bayern Munich are considering a move to sign Newcastle United right-back Mathieu Debuchy according to Football Direct News.

Allianz Arena boss Pep Guardiola is set to be handed a massive £90m transfer kitty this summer and is ready to strengthen a seemingly unbeatable squad.

Guardiola apparently sees 28 year old French international Debuchy as a potential long term replacement for Philipp Lahm, though it is worth noting that whilst the experienced German defender has been around for what seems an eternity the Bayern Munich star is still just 30 years of age.

Lahm has been a massively important player at Bayern Munich for many years and has made over 400 appearances for the Bavarian club, and isn’t likely to be leaving any time soon.

With that in mind one wonders if it would be wise for Debuchy to consider a move to the Champions League holders just to be left warming the bench?

Debuchy has impressed during his time at St James’ Park but could well feel the time is right to consider his options having seen national team colleague, and former Lille team-mate, Yohan Cabaye leave Newcastle United in January.

Clearly any decent offer for Debuchy will be considered by Magpies owner Mike Ashley, who clearly has no qualms about cashing-in on his star performers.
