Arsenal are set to rejoin the race to sign Newcastle United’s on loan striker Loic Remy this summer, but will now face some serious competition to do so, according to Football Direct News.

The Gunners had been linked with a move for the France international last summer when he was made available by parent club Queens Park Rangers following their relegation from the Premier League.

However, Arsenal had targets elsewhere and decided not to pursue his signature and he instead left for St James’ Park on a season long loan.

But his future in the Northeast remains unclear, Magpies boss Alan Pardew has made it known that he would like the 26-year-old to stay, but the player himself has loftier ambitions that Pardew may not be able to offer.

And Remy’s tentative future seems to have reignited Arsene Wenger’s interest once again and he will look to line up a move to bring him back to London at the end of the season.

Wenger will find striking a deal difficult this time around, though, as a number of clubs such as Paris Saint Germain, Liverpool, Inter Milan and Aston Villa are all vying for his services themselves.
