The 32 year old is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer and has seemingly set his sights on a move to the San Siro, with a two year deal worth £2.5m a year, on the table.

David Moyes has already publicly conceded that Vidic would leave at the end of the season and Inter Milan president Erick Thohir is set to win the race to sign the no-nonsense centre-back.

Inter Milan are struggling to secure a Champions League berth for next term and will hope that the addition of Vidic, though clearly not a long term option, will help solidify their back-line.

Vidic is into his ninth season at Man United and has made 286 appearances for the club since his move from Spartak Moscow back in January 2006.
