The 27-year-old has been a key figure in the Italian club’s resurgence this season, and has featured heavily for Walter Mazzarri’s side since signing on from Cesena back in 2011.

And whilst Spurs boss Tim sherwood is hoping to convince Jan Vertonghen to put pen-to-paper on a new deal at White Heart Lane he clearly feels that there is need for extra cover on the flanks and Nagatomo’s agent Roberto Tukada has suggested that Spurs will look to the Japanese star to come on board, but he also admitted that his client is perfectly happy with life in Italy.

“Tottenham have been following him for a while but there is nothing more than that,” Tukada said.

“He still has more than two years left on his contract with Inter and we want to renew.

“I think we will talk during the summer. The player is happy at Inter and there is no reason to think he will change teams.”

Spurs are currently sat in fifth in the Premier League table but will have to turn their attentions back to the Europa League this week as they take on Dnipro in the last 32.
