Eagles want St James’ Park bit-part player.

Crystal Palace are keen on signing Newcastle United winger Gabriel Obertan according to Sports Direct News.

The 24 year old French wide-man left Man United for St James’ Park back in August 2011, hoping to reignite a career that had stagnated on the Old Trafford bench but the former Bordeaux man has barely featured for the Magpgies, starting just four Premier League fixtures in the past two seasons.

A move to Selhurst Park may then tempt Obertan and one imagines Alan Pardew would not lose too much sleep over his prospective exit.

This source quotes a ‘club insider’ as stating;

“Attacking players are a priority for us this summer, particularly in the wide areas,”

“We’re delighted to have Tom Ince on loan for the rest of this season but we’re not sure we’ll be able to keep him.

“There are a few players the club is looking at as an alternative and Obertan’s name has come up as a good option.”

QPR are also said to be keen on the former French Under 21 international.

Boss Tony Pulis has done wonderfully well to pull his Eagles side out of the drop-zone, securing three wins in their last four fixtures.
