WWE chairman Vince McMahon is apparently considering a move to takeover Newcastle United football club according to the Metro.

McMahon has apparently been alerted to the possibility that current owner Mike Ashley is ready to sell the St James’ Park club, who have hit a very poor run of form in recent weeks.

The Metro quotes a ‘source’ at the Premier League club as stating;

‘Vince McMahon has been sniffing around the club and seems keen on pursuing his interest.

‘He sees England as an untapped market for his wrestling empire. He has even indicated he could put on wrestling bouts at St James’s Park

‘Obviously it is very early days but there is hope the fans may get what they want with Ashley leaving. Buying a club like Newcastle would throw him into the spotlight in England which is just what he is looking to do.’

McMahon was linked with a move to buy the club back in 2011.

Ashley opted to sell Yohan Cabaye to PSG in January, a move that has unsurprisingly led Newcastle United to produce a real drop off in form, indeed Alan Pardew’s job may now be in jeopardy, with six defeats in their last eight Premier League fixtures.
